Monterey, CA ...six months later

I am trying to play catch up! Last October we went to Monterey with Shane's sister April to visit their brother Mark and his cute family. We had so much fun! Monterey is so beautiful, just reminiscing makes me want to go back. We spent our first day wandering around Cannery Row and checking out the aquarium.
After the aquarium we wanted to see the sea lions at Break-Water Cove. I couldn't believe how many sea lions were there! They were cracking us up how they were just lounging around on the rocks.
This lion was my favorite he kept on throwing back his head and giving us the stink eye. (So dramatic!)
On our second day we wandered around the quaint little town of Carmel. I felt like I had wandered into the Shire from Lord of the Rings. All of the houses were so dang cute! I loved it.

After our little stroll around town we took one last walk to the beach before we had to leave.

Closing the Slopes! Brian Head Winter 2012-2013

Over the weekend we went to Brian Head for the last day of the season. Even though the weather and the snow weren't the best, we still had a blast! This year my parents gave us season passes for Christmas and we sure made the most of them. At the start of the season I was still falling off the lift like a goon, but with Shane's help, by the end of the season I was able to do little jumps and rails. "Shano Insano" was in his element the whole time doing tricks and riding through the powder. Lucky for me I married such a sweet husband who would be patient while I was trying to get the hang of being strapped onto a board. Here are some pictures from our awesome season!

Conference Weekend

We were so blessed to spend a great weekend with friends and family up north. First we enjoyed a beautiful drive through Provo Canyon to Park City for Shane's mission reunion. After the reunion we stayed in Provo with my uncle Tristan (who is three years older then me) and his wife Audrey. They are students at BYU and just found out they are expecting a baby this fall!

Saturday morning we watched conference with my old room mate Stephanie and her husband Tyler. The rest of the day was spent eating crepes and exploring Wheeler Farm with Shane's sister Kristina and her daughter Naomi. That night Shane went to the Priesthood session and I spent time with my Aunt Timette and her four adorable kids. We had so much fun!

Sunday we went to the sunday morning conference session. It was so amazing to hear all of the inspiring messages. After conference we walked around the temple and enjoyed all the flowers in bloom. I am so glad Shane and I have time together to create these memories.

I love this statue. It is so sweet.

I loved seeing this beautiful statue right after listening to this talk. It helped me realize how much little children are influenced by those around them. I am working in an elementary school where a lot of the students come from very rough homes. There have been many times after work where I came home after hearing a child's story crying. I felt like no matter what I did at school those sweet, and innocent children still had such a rough road ahead of them. After hearing this talk I felt so touched and I knew that they would remember the love and kindness I had showed them.

"One of the greatest influences a person can have in this world is to influence a child. Children’s beliefs and self-worth are shaped early in their lives. Everyone within the sound of my voice has the power to increase a child’s confidence in himself or herself and to increase a child’s faith in Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ through the words they speak."
